Hello, my dear travelers!
“Happy New Year!” – we said to each other on the main square in this beautiful capital of Bulgaria – Sofia. When it comes to New Year’s Eve celebration, we prefer to travel abroad. When you are living in a small town, celebration of New Year is not something worth paying for. So, for 2018, we decided to visit Sofia. Firstly, I hadn’t any expectations about that city. I knew that we’re travelling to Bulgaria – a country with a worse standard than Croatia, but okay, we were sure that we will have a great time! And it was just like that!
Sofia! What an amazing and huge city! I was so wrong when I did not expect anything. I should have expected a lot because this city has provided us with much of it. Beautiful architecture, different styles, amazing street art in the city centre, great prices, a varied and delicious gastronomic offer, a lot of small coffee bars, beautiful interiors and much more! How dare I expect nothing!!
We have travelled with a travel agency Starline from Osijek, their offer was so cheap. Hotel is located 5 min tube drive from the city centre. It’s called Easy Hotel and it’s nothing, but okay. Small rooms with tiny baths, but clean! Staff was very nice and helpful. I will recommend you this hotel if you are staying maximum three nights. Food in Sofia, like in other parts of Balkans, is delicious and amazing! The first night we dined at the local restaurant with Bulgarian food. Big portions for not so much money. Down below I will write some recommendations.
The speciality of this city is that most of the restaurants are open 0-24 (yes, on New Year’s Eve, too). We had a lot of luck so we found a free seat in restaurant Ugo. Pizza and pasta in a hundred ways are their specialities.
This city is definitely worth visiting. If you have a chance, don’t miss it!
